ALTO PALANCIA – Valley of Segorbe The Alto Palancia offers several possibilities, calm and peaceful villages to enjoy your vacation, trips around the valley and the mountains. Mountain bike, walking routes ( GR 10 and GR 7 ) and areas for hunting and fishing. The handicrafts of the Alto Palancia are the walking sticks, the ‘esparto’ of Castellnovo and modelling clay, mainly in Segorbe and Altura. The gastronomy. Traditional home cooking, such as snails, pork, cheese… The festivities in the Alto Palancia are mainly during the summer. The most interesting is ‘La Entrada de Toros y Caballos’ of Segorbe. Consists in horses guiding bulls through one of the main streets of the city. ITINERARIES IN ‘EL ALTO PALANCIA’ There are two types of routes, long routes and short routes. These itineraries consists in paths through the mountain which are indicated with paint. Long routes: GR-10 - Goes through the mountains of ‘La Calderona’ and the mountains of ‘El Toro’. These paths are indicated with white and red paint. GR-36 - Starts at Villavieja and ends at Montanejos. Goes through the mountains of ‘La Sierra Espadan’. Indicated with white and red paint. GR-7 - This itinerary goes through all the territory of Valencia’s community. GR-10 and GR-36 are part of this route. It’s also indicted with white and red. Short routes: These are usually deflections in long routes. There are indicated with white and yellow. PR-V-62 - Goes through the mountains of ‘Mas de Noguera’. PR-V-80 - Goes from the mountains of ‘El Toro’ to Bejis.
Bike’s itineraries in El Alto Palancia There are 9 routes which goes through all the region of Alto Palancia. These are routes for mountain bike. If you prefer to cycle in roads, you will find roads with no traffic and wonderful views. In the mountains of Espina and Espadan, you’ll find the ascents of Arenillas, Almedijar and Eslida. And in the south of the region, you’ll find the ascents to Bejis, Sacañet, La Cueva Santa and Chirivella. We also recommend the route ‘vía verde de ojos negros’, that goes through the region of Alto Palancia.
